Don't Worry About the Warblers  Warbler Gallery

Warbler Habit -  Tall Pines              Dense Thickets

Warblers and other slender billed insect eaters flit about in tall trees and dense shrubbery.  They are small, active birds (5-6in.)  By the time you get your binocs up they have flitted out of sight.  Be patient.  They are usually nearby and will reappear. Don't worry about the warblers, identification will come with experience.

If you do get a glance, look for identifying marks such as head color, eye rings, wing bars, eyebrow.  Does it flash color when it flies off?

During the Warbler's breeding season listen for their songs. Field Guides describe the song and call of each bird.  In their winter habitats Warblers emit a variety of chipping sounds, each one unique to the species.  In birding the fun is in the process.  Good Luck with the Warblers!!
